I have had someone ask me if the egg is fertilized after it comes out. So hard not to laugh sometimes, but people seriously don't know! I try to be patient and inform them.

I have one!!! Someone at work asked me how I got white eggs. I explained to her it was the breed. She thought the store ones were bleached. For germ control.

I heard it yesterday from my neighbor who fondly remembers growing up around grandma's chickens. Last person in my neighborhood I expected that question from.

He was with his wife when he asked me over the fence what we were going to do now that we didn't have our rooster ( I found a great home for him the same morning he crowed for the first time) Confused, I said... umm not really sure except maybe sleep a little more and not get busted? Rather point blank about it, he said no... the egg thing.. you won't get any eggs now. I looked at his wife and said ok... you can related to this. Every month, whether your hubby is around or not, you release an egg yes? She blushed a little and said you mean my monthly cycle??? giggle giggle, yada yada...Granted it's way different, but I could tell they were getting it. Continuing I said When hubby is on a business trip, and your family doesn't get any bigger as a result.... yet the cycle continues. It sank in finally and I probably won't have to answer that question from them at least, for a while.
