It keeps the meat very moist and adds flavor. My husband and I also like very fatty steak/beef. I'll be honest, I am not fluent in discussions about what is healthy or not. My husband likes to do a lot of research on the topic and believes animal fats are not unhealthy, it's the vegetable and processed oils that are causing health problems. We have switched to using animal fats for everything, like butter or beef tallow. There is a lot of data showing the increase in diabetes, heart failure, etc when vegetable oils became more popular. I would suggest doing your own research, try changing your diet and see how you personally notice a difference. Why do you want somuch fat surely that unhealthy ? Look at the color! You'll never see that on store bought chicken, that fat is loaded with beta carotene, vitamin c, and omega 3s. Did you make schmalz?I processed the 3 boys today. I weighed them and they all actually lost weight being penned up. Now i know not to do that again. But on the brightside, my 14 month old capon had the most fat i have EVER SEEN! I thought i'd share!
No I didn't, but I should! It would probably be amazing to fry potatoes in!Look at the color! You'll never see that on store bought chicken, that fat is loaded with beta carotene, vitamin c, and omega 3s. Did you make schmalz?
