I'm building a tractor coop and trying to decide on how many it will accommodate. The foot print will be 4'x10' with a 4'x4' coop on one end raised 30" up. They will also be able to free range on accession. I would like it to hold 6 but not sure if this will be too tight. Thanks

Are you planning for Large Fowl (LF) or Bantams?

Rule of thumb:

LF: 4sqft of coop space per bird with 10sqft of run space per bird. Your set-up would only be large enough for 4 LF birds.

Bantams: I think you could probably get away with 6 but it would be tight. I hope someone else can give you better info if you are looking at bantams.

Hope this helps.

My coop is similar in size. We have 4 hens and they are just fine.

I am curious about the thought of this being a tractor. Mine is only 4x8 and I think it would take an ATV to move ours because it's so heavy. I'm not the best carpenter, so perhaps yours won't be quite so heavy.
