Your spring 12 birds will molt and usually quit laying in fall 13. So, if you want eggs uninterrupted you'll need to buy day old chicks spring 13, so they start laying in the late summer or fall, and you'll have an overlap with the older hens laying. Your birds will start laying again in spring 14 and hatchery/production birds in my experience still lay quite well that second summer.Just a question......
Second full season means?( I'm thinking not next summer, but the next so summer 2014 would be 2nd full season?) My pullets were hatched easter 2012(april 8th to be exact) all reached POL by aug/sept, and I also have all sex link or hatchery production stock. I was thinking not this coming spring but next I would be starting to raise their replacements, and culling pre-winter as the new chicks come on to point of lay? does this sound about right?
