i am going to place an order of 25 with ideal, split between 6 breeds, and i want to know, how many silkies would you order to get 1 or 2 pullets? the silkies are not sexed... i just want one or two to use as broody hens, should i order 4, or 6 to be on the safe side?

Minimum 4, with 6 you'll probably get at least 2 hens, 8 would be overkill, but you never know.

I always over do it. I myself would order six just to make sure I got the two girls I wanted. Typically you should get a 50/50 split but there are not guarantees.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I recently got a straight run of 20 Barred Rocks--I have only five (yep, that was 5) pullets of the batch!
