How Many Years of Eggs From A Hatchery

How many years have you had eggs from a hatchery chicken?

Someone made a comment that hatchery birds only lay for a few years. Well that's not good because ALL of my chickens are from hatcheries and I cant afford to replace them. Plus heritage breeders are PRICEY for my budget! Answers are for 3 eggs or more per week, minus the broody hens of course

I've only had hatchery chickens for about 3 years, but my original hens are still laying strong. I have heard the same thing, though, so I guess we'll just have to see.

if they are still laying good at 3 years then hopefully they can continue to lay till 4 years!!! I personally think 4 years is a good investment. Of course 6+ would be nice! Which hatchery did you use and what breeds do you have? Mine came from Meyers and are Buff Orpingtons.

Mine came from McMurray Hatchery in Iowa. Their breeds are: Columbian Wyandotte, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Rhode Island Red, and Easter Egger.

i don't see where you polled in at. How many eggs do you get from them? How old are they?

Okay so I did some investigating and as far as I could see the hatchery hens lay just as many as the special breeder hens. 2 people polled in at 3-4 yrs and that seems like most chickens anyways.
