How many chicks will fit into a 8x12 coop? We've got 8 and need to have more to keep up with the demand for the eggs....no roos, just chicks. Thanks!

4 sq foot is minimum for typical setups. Most people provide more if they can.
Really depends on where you live and how much winter you have.
Also you need to take into account how much run space you have for them. 10sf at the minimum.

Location is all-important. An open air coop in the south probably needs 2 sq ft at most. If I were in a cold and snowy climate, where they would stay in for days at a time by choice, I would have at least 15 sq ft per bird.

I live in the panhandle of florida so our winters arn't to bad for animals from what I understand. The coop is basically half open and half enclosed area. Does that help?
