they only lay one egg a day RIGHT......
i check everyday , today we found two green eggs (i only have one easteregger)one in the laying box and one on the floor in the door way i could not miss that...
also why would they start laying on the floor when the two girls that were laying have been laying in the nest boxes? i found some of there eggs on the floor too.
i have 5 nest boxes for 8 chickens and only 3 are laying right now.i did just move 5 new chickens in the coop would that have something to do with it?

Sometimes the first egg catches a chicken unaware and she'll lay it wherever she is. Is it possible that the new EE layer laid one egg last night after you checked and then another today before you picked up eggs? Because yes, they only lay one a day (more like one every 28 hours so some days are skipped). But who knows with a newbie - she might lay two in 20 hours, then not again for a few days. Her system is still getting used to this. Congrats on the first green eggs!

My guess is you have a chicken or two that likes to move things around. Leg the egg outta the nest box...or is that possible for your set up?

For me, I've one leghorn that is rather peeved I keep taking her eggs. If taken freshly after layed, as in warm, she swakes up a storm and will lay in another area the next day. Use to have a temperary nesting area that was double teired. She went from one to the next depending on how warm the egg was (fresh from her). Now they have side by side option. She is the only one that goes to the side near the coop waterer after yet another heated egg gather....she finally layed in the coop pine shavings the other day in hopes I'd not get it...she was wrong
