How may days? 21, 22...28?

I borrowed a styrofoam battor from a friend. He said it would take approx. 28 days. On day 21 I had some pip and hatch and a few more on day 22. Today is 24 I dont see or hear anything going on, and still have alot in bator. Started with 31 eggs and 6 hatched.

The more I read the more I understand somethings that I may have done wrong. I like the idea of cardboard egg carton, it would make things soooo much eaiser.

So...should I wait a few more days? I have not tried candling any yet, I was afraid of handling them too much. Or just give up on these and start some more I get 4 to 6 a day from my hens now.

Chickens hatch out around 21 days, but other birds like turkeys and ducks take longer. If they don't stink, you can wait longer on the unhatched eggs, but get the hatched chickies in a brooder if you haven't already. At day 24, the prognosis isn't promising though...
