So my 7 month old New Hampshire Red Hen was attacked by what we think was a fox probably about 2 days ago. She just returned home this morning. We brought her down to the vet, they were no help. So we went over to the local Agway and they said that she should be fine since she has been eating, drinking, pooping, and her comb, waddle, and eyes are fine. Now the only thing they didn't tell me is how much Tetracycline Hydrochloride Soluble Powder to put into how much water. it says on the bag, "Each pound contains 25g of tetracycline hydrochloride activity. This packet contains 10g of tetracycline hydrochloride activity. The dosage instructions on the back only have directions for CRD Air Sac Disease, and Infectious Synovitis . I don't know weather to follow those instructions or just make up my own dosage. I don't want to over dose or under dose her. What do I do????

Ask threehorses to send you her EXCELLENT article on this.... It's my bible. Use 1tbsp of the powder per gallon of water. You need to give it for at least 10-14 days.

If I remember correctly, the dose per gallon is 1 tsp.

that is a sort of standard dose for Terramycin, I was told by someone at a hatchery.

But see what someone else tells you, too.

But I gave chx. 1 tsp. /gall. last summer--and none died from it!

ok so is it one tsp or one tbsp??? there is a big difference!
