Ho my gosh! $14?! Do you see anyone buying those eggs?Brown “free range” farm eggs are $7 to $9 a dozen at my local grocery stores. People are selling home grown free range like yours for $14/dz. at farmers markets and country stores. Pretty “Martha Stewart” Eggs are absolutely worth more! Especially at Easter. (I don’t sell my eggs. I only have about 2 dozen extra eggs per week. What we don’t eat at home, we give away to family and friends. We never have enough for everyone we love. We need more chickens! Lol.)
I was wondering the same thing, if you can sell eggs for hatching the same price as eggs for eating or if you should charge more for hatching eggs.I am getting questions on fertilized eggs! I do have a pretty rooster, but mine is a ragtag bunch. So are people asking you for hatching eggs? How much a dozen?
Try searching on ebay for hatching eggs. That should give you a good estimate on pricing.I am getting questions on fertilized eggs! I do have a pretty rooster, but mine is a ragtag bunch. So are people asking you for hatching eggs? How much a dozen?

Same. Eggs at the store are 8 or 9 bucks. I've always charged 5, but raised my price to $6, and twice in the last week I've had customers give me $10 and tell me to just keep the change because they're happy to pay more for pretty/fresh eggs. (In Colorado)I was selling for $5 but raised my prices to $6 (which was stillcheaper than the cheapest store prices).
Always wanted some F2's!! The 2 times we tried to get an OE though, it has always been a roo!! UGHI sell both - I've been charging $20 a dozen for hatching eggs, but $4 for eating. I haven't been refrigerating the fresh eggs immediately like I used to, but hatching vs eating there's always a price uptick. I bought a dozen f2 olive Egger eggs for $40.
I'm not sure if she ships, but I got mine from The Golden Chicks Farm out of Checotah, OK. I can pick up local from her, so the shipping idk. I've definitely got some boys but their colors so far are pretty and I'm excited to see what I've got. I have my own OE and wanted new blood.Always wanted some F2's!! Thank you very much for the info! I really hope to hatch other breeds someday instead of my own mixed breeds LOL. 9 out of 12 is actually a great hatch rate! I got 50% on my last hatchI'm not sure if she ships, but I got mine from The Golden Chicks Farm out of Checotah, OK. I can pick up local from her, so the shipping idk. Edit to add that out of the 12 eggs she gave me, 9 hatched. 2 didn't develop and one developed but died. But honestly that's great rates IMHO.
(I’m at my local Kroger. Large chain grocery store.)The title says it all, what are you charging for eggs? The chickens have picked back up finally and we got 13 eggs today, with 9 dozen in the refrigerator. The local eggs at Walmart are $4.97 for the great value dozen white eggs. Brown eggs are $5.18. I've always just charged $4 a dozen in the past, but should I up my prices? I know everyone I'm selling to well, and I don't want to lose any customers. I don't want to be undercutting myself either though.
