I was surprised to discover this week big bright red combs on two of my little girls. One of course is my favorite Barred Rock, the other a brown leghorn. Now, it was never my plan to have roosters. I've found many pictures of an adult Brown Leghorn - one word - STUNNING!. The barred rock is my favorite - there's no way I could "cull" them out so to speak, so, short of giving them away - for someone else's dinner table, my question to the experts - just how much are they going to crow?????

They'll crow often. I think that roosters crow in the morning to heat up, they like to let the hens eat more than them. In my experience my hatchery roosters got mean, so if they are meanies over 2 years, you've got a nice roo.

I can't really say how much they'll crow, because it vary's a lot. Good luck~

Oh yeah, the coloration on that BR is a dead giveaway, even if the comb wasn't.

How much they crow varies a tremendous amount from bird to bird. Having two of them, you may find they each crow more than if they were alone, as they will have "crow offs". I had one who crowed from the time he woke until he went to bed, with rarely a break of more than a few minutes. And I had another who crowed half a dozen times at 5am and I didn't hear him again all day.

Right now I have some youngsters getting started and they only crow a few times apiece first thing in the morning. I do anticipate it will get more frequent as they mature though.
