I am trying to get an average selling cost of the following:

1. Started chicks
2. 1-6 month olds (future layer or meat bird)
3. Laying hens
4. Show quality birds (4-6 month olds or better)
5. Pet quality (not quite good enough to show, but pretty nice.)

Please comment on whatever you can
Thanks

Day old chicks from hatchery $2

I have sold partial order of chicks for $3, priced for convenience.

Point of lay pullets for $8. Frankly, they are worth $10-$12, but market doesn't always bear it.

Stew pot hens $4-$5

Young roosters- usually $3 for meat birds or free to move them out.

I'm in Oklahoma,
1. Chicks go from $0.50-$4+ each I sell mine for $2.50
2. Pullets go from $3-$10+ each I sell mine for $7-$8 (about 4-5 months old)
3. Laying Hens can go from $7-$30+ each mine anywhere from $8-$15
4. Show birds go $15+ each
5. Pets go for $5-$15 each mine are $8-$15
6. Roosters go from $4-$8 each depending on size I get $5-$7 usually

All of the prices depends on the breeds and size!
Hope this helps!

feed store chicks $3.50 - 3.95
roosters...free unless you "order" them from the feed store
POL...I charge $10-15 (cost of chick + $1/week)
laying hens...less than 2 years old...I get $7-10 each

1. Started chicks
From $2 to 10 apiece depending on breed and quality

2. 1-6 month olds (future layer or meat bird)
$5-15

3. Laying hens
$5-15, spent hens are usually $2-3

4. Show quality birds (4-6 month olds or better)
$15+

5. Pet quality (not quite good enough to show, but pretty nice.)
$5-15

I sold a nice pair of cochins for $20 and I bought the chicks at $3 apiece

This is info from a small farm where chickens are sold about 50 minutes north of Atlanta.

1. $2.00
2.$7.00-10.00
3. $15.00
4. $18.00

I'd put the pet quality under 2 or 3.

Someone noted $1 a week, and that's a pretty good rule of thumb,
considering that's what their feed cost is in their growing months.

South Louisiana -

1. chicks - $3
2. youngsters - $8-$10
3. layers - $15
4. show quality $25-$50 (I paid $50)
5. pet quality - $10 (usually an ornamental bird)
Roosters or just plain ugly pets - $5

Feed store chicks: $5.00
CL chicks:$10
Started pullets: $15
hens: $20-$35
Breeding pair: $40
Grow roosters: $0-$15
they are very expensive in my area.

This is what I sell mine for. I'm in New Jersey.

Day Olds - $3

Chicks over 4 weeks - $5

Laying hens:
Point of Lay - $12 - $15, although I've seen them advertised for as much as $20
Older (over 2 years) - $10

I'll sell roosters for $5, but those that don't sell go to the auction. I usually get $2 - $5, minus 20% auction fee.

The feed stores sell day-olds for $4 - $6, depending on breed.
