How much do you all sell your eggs for?

I'm down here in the South and wondering how much does everyone sell their eggs for. I started selling mind for $1.50 just to get my feed money out of it. I went to the local flea market we have around here once a month and they were selling for $3.00 a dozen. I need to raise mind but I don't know how much for. At the moment I sell only my word of mouth. But in July when my second set of 12 hens start laying I will start sell by hanging a sign on my mail box.

people really pay $3.00 a dz, I sell mine for $1.50 a dz even to family and my brother in law rolled his eyes at me when I told him they were not for free, and hasn't bought any. My dad too thought he was going to get free eggs..... I set that straight! I told him if he wanted "FREE" eggs to get his own chicken and tell me how much his eggs cost then. he now buys me a bag of feed for 9dz eggs

ANYWAYS..... I would say if people come to u instead of the $3.00dz ones that u could get away with asking more something like $2.75. that way u'll still sell ur eggs first cause ur cheaper.

ETA - I don't buy egg cartons. I would have to sell for $2.00dz just to cover the stupid carton. I may have to buy cartons in the fall though, I'll be geting my RIR and leghorn next week!!!

I sell ours for $3 a dozen if I supply the cartons and $2.75 if they bring me back the carton. At present, my customers are my mom and 2 friends but noone balked at $3 so I know that I can go to $3.50 if I wanted to....the variety of colors alone in the carton make for happy customers.

I sell mine for $1.25 doz., but most people 'round here sell them for $2.00 doz.

$4, but people try to pay me $5 and even $6. I wouldnt MIND charging more, but I know my older customers couldn't afford it, and it wouldn't be fair to charge one customer more than another.

Why so high, you ask? The farmer's market is a half-mile from my house. They charge $6+ a dozen for organic eggs. Most of my customers come over and HOLD my chickens--sometimes they bring their kids over to feed them. These are the customers who try to slip in the extra $1 or $2. Perhaps they feel they need to support the "petting zoo"?

One thing to remember is that the price varies greatly by the area you live in and regardless of geographic area people that live close to a major city will almost always get more for their eggs then those that live out in the boonies. I get 3-3.50 a dozen depending on the carton, but they go for closer to $5 in the Seattle area.

I get $3 a dozen. That is the same price as the farm market (except for the Amish stalls. They sell them for $2.5).
