I'm not bidding for anything. I don't have the cash to risk on so few eggs. But the seller claims they're GFF lines. GFF doesn't sell individual breed eggs, just extra eggs they have in potluck batches

Not sure what exactly your looking for, type chicken or just some eggs to hatch. craigslist,
facebook marketplace.

Not looking for anything special. I’m just hesitant to meet someone to get them because of a bad past experience. I may ask around at church and see if anyone with chickens might be willing to sell me some.

I just wouldn't do commercial hatchery eggs because only about 50% will hatch statistically in a good batch and then you have all these 2 dollar chicks that cost about 13 each for st run

I did bid for gff Schijndelaar eggs for 300 and still lost, I didn't want to go any higher. I just wanted the chicken for it's fancy feathers and green eggs.

Just saw today Rhode Island Red chicks for sale at Rural King for $2.99 each. Why would you pay $5 per RIR hatching egg? Yes that is expensive.

There is a lot of fake bidding going on to push the selling price.

Here in Europe its quite common to sell and buy fertilised eggs. I did that 2 weeks ago and bought 10 bantam Rhode Island red eggs for 5 euro (50ct each). This guy doesn’t sell them to make money.
Most fertilised eggs (breeds) are sold for 1 euro a piece. And eggs of a special breed like the Schijndelaar might go for 2 euro. On the other hand , most chicks go for 5 - 10 euro.

If you know someone who has chickens with a rooster you can ask if you can buy fresh eggs. These eggs will be fine to use for hatching if you like the chickens.
If you want a special breed you can contact a club for shows and breeding. They have addresses of people that breed for the standard. That’s how I got the adres + phone number of the guy I bought my eggs. And he lives really near. Just about 30 minutes to get there.
