Today I discovered that one of my birds have lice, so in a fit of dosing them all with ivermectin, I weighed them and they are MUCH lighter than I thought.
I have 2 wyandottes, the SLW is 4lbs 14oz and the columbian is 4lbs 8oz. They are both a year old.
My easter egger is 5 lbs (3 years old)
And my Welsummer is 5lbs 7oz (2 years old)
These are all well below the published breed "normals". They all have easily felt keels, but with good muscling around it, none of the sudden step from keel to muscle that you feel in very thin birds. But they are possibly on the lean side. I would have guessed they were 7 or 8 lbs each, so I was way off.
Tomorrow I'll be weighing and dosing the last 3 of my girls. I'm curious to see what my partridge plymouth rock weighs now, I've been thinking she was around 10 lbs.
So, what do your girls weigh? I'd especially love some comparisons of the same breeds.
