How much do your chickens eat? :D

I single mate mine. That means no more than one hen and one rooster per pen. Chickens over 6 lbs get 4 1/2 oz of 16% feed per day in one feeding, thrown on the ground. Birds under 6 lbs get 3 oz per day. All are healthy with good breasts and shiney plumage......Pop

BOSS is black oiled sunflower seeds.

I have 65 babies (born Thanksgiving week) and they go through 11 pounds a day! I didn't realize chickens eat that much!!!!!!!!!!!

my girls are eating double what they ate in summer.. I think it mostly has to do with lack of bugs... I didnt realize how much free ranging made such a difference..

My thirteen go thru 50# feed in 14 to 21 days. During that time that get about 5# of scratch and BOSS. They go to pasture on the lawn about an hour in the evening and they sure do clean up under the bird feeders, the amount of bird seed can vary greatly.

Where does everyone get their chicken feed from? Prices on 50 pounds? I'm from central Mississippi and found chick starter 50 pounds for 14.79

Wow, am I doing things right? My chickens get a feeder filled with crumble, but I have not gone through 50 pounds in the last 4 months. ( I have 5 chickens) but every morning they get Cole slaw mix, boss, scratch, and in the afternoon they get fruit and usually cooked rice, or some other treat left from dinner. There nice and healthy and love to beg. But as far as crumble, nope not going through it at all. In fact we usually throw the feeder out to the wild birds so the chicken are always getting fresh crumble.
