How much does a SQ Silkie cost?

Totally agree.

Usually I get a little weary when I hear the term "Show quality eggs/chicks", and know that it's now a little harder to really trust the breeder, I would usually stay away. There's no such thing. A more appropriate term is "Chicks/eggs from show lines/stock/lines".

The term 'show quality' is kind of over-used in my opinion. You hear people using it everywhere these days.

how do you know the chicks won't turn out as fabulous as the parents did?

You don't, some may, but the point is no one can tell if they they will from a chick, so how can someone sell SQ chicks(or eggs).

It's one thing to advertise eggs from SQ parents-and you can hope you may get SQ chicks from those eggs-but thats not always the case. Good breeders do alot of culling before they pick which ones to show-they may go through 50+ birds that they spent 6+ months growing out to pick "the one". SO IMO I dont think anyone should say that they are selling SQ eggs...Thats a hidden lie... I would pay 100$+ for a silkie bird. I have

shhhhh Dh doesnt know--I told him I hatched it out. He just sees masses of silkies doesnt realize I had a hidden cage for Quaratine..hehhe..Anyhoo It's all in how much YOU want it for whatever reason breeding-showing etc...all in the eyes of the beholder:)

So the term "SQ" really just depends on WHO you are talking to, and what level they are talking about?

Sorry, I hadn't heard that, but I've been out of Silkies for a while. I was lucky enough to meet him at the RMFF show in Denver a couple of years ago.

So Deb, how much do you sell your silkies for.?If you do sell them. I have seen you put up quite a display of silkies and think you are a reasonable person who has a much better show record than Hattrick. I would think your prices would be more real world than theirs.
But then I might be wrong.
