How much feather loss is normal?

First time chicken mama here. I have a flock of six girls- they’re all about 4 months old and haven’t started laying yet. I’ve noticed some downy feathers in the bottom of their coop and in the yard where they free range- is this normal? None of them have any bald spots or are showing signs of feather loss. They groom thyemselves but not constantly. Pic below for reference.

Trying to determine if this is within the normal range or if I should investigate for a bigger problem like mites.

I see you are a relatively new BYC member. The chicks will molt several times during their first year so you will see feathers around. After their first year they usually molt once a year. My birds are starting to go through their yearly molt now.

Some birds go through heavier molts than other birds do so some will loose more feathers.

Agreed, this is likely a juvenile molt. Here is a pretty decent article on molting:
