How much feed per chicken

Another thought ... check out the fermented feed thread. Supposedly they eat far less using this method. I think I read somewhere something like only a third of dry food. I use it in conjunction with dry and sprouted fodder (wheatberries.) Also, healthy kitchen scraps are a great way to supplement their food, too. I am pretty picky about what scraps I give my 9, soon to be 20, birds, but they can eat just about anything.
 
I checked out the fermented feed thread and it makes fairly good sense. Since the chickens are supplied with more protein, it makes sense that they wouldn't eat as much!
 
And as I forgot to mention in the beginning I do let the chickens free range for about 4 hours each evening. I am going to try the fermented feed and see how it works out. I have also put a feeder with scratch grains in the coop out of reach of the chicks. Do you think feeding scratch to chicks to early would cause swollen crops? I have a few chicks with swollen crops that hav been dying.
