How much feed should you give to geese?

We went to the co-op and talked with them about what we should feed my geese and they recommended duck and goose grower. It is a 17% protein feed designed to be fed from 3 weeks of age until market (or death at a ripe old age from natural causes). I could type out all the vitamin supplements it has but it would a long time with my hunt and peck typing style.

The people at the co-op initially wanted to sell me their 17% egg mash mix which would have been cheaper, but I told them I didn't want to feed the geese a powder because it would cake in their nostrils.

The co-op can custom mix feed for me based on what I tell them I want, but I would have to buy it by the ton, which might be a problem for storage. Anyone have a spare grain silo sitting around?

I allow my geese to determine how much feed they need by keeping a feeder full and available to them at all times. They do not over eat. I frequently offer them grass hay, especially during times when there is no grass available for them to graze on.

The feed my geese receive is a combination of Purina flock Raiser, whole oats, whole red wheat and sometimes some Mazuri Waterfowl Maintenance feed.
The oats and wheat are added to keep the protein levels from being too high as that can contribute to wing problems when they molt.
When I dont have Flock Raiser available, I use a feed with added Niacin (such as unmedicated turkey or broiler or game bird feed) because waterfowl have higher Niacin needs than chickens.

My ducks eat the same feed.

What kind of grass hay are you feeding your geese? I planted perrineal rye for mine, give mazuri waterfowl feed and now supplementing with corn with colder nights. I have seen timothy hay at feed stores. Not knowledgeable on hay! Thanks!
