We are about to get our first small flock of hens. My Dad is helping me build a tractor right now that has a 10 x 4 run and we are going to start with 5 hens. I'm wondering how much feed they will go through if we plan to move them every 1-2 days?

hard to say......i guess you should just experiment to find out. the less wasted the more food you will have. i am just a boy and live with my parents so i don't worry about cost so much.

i also have 5 hens and a rooster. a big bag of dumor starter/grower/finisher/layer (whatever feed you need for th chickens age). lasts atleast 5 weeks is my guess.

My 12 chickens go through 40lbs of feed in 4-8 weeks, depending on the season/how much they get out, In the summer, it lasts me nearly two months. this winter, they are going through it in 4-5 weeks. Mind you I have twelve, and you'll have 5, so you'll use even less!
Have fun with you chickens! :) and
