How much feed, by pound, should my 7 month old and 5 month old chickens eat? They are all together in a coop/run. There are 9 chickens in there. Any help is appreciated

Feed all of your birds free choice and they'll take care of it themselves. If one of your birds is unnaturally thin after you start that then you would want to investigate. They do a good job of regulating their intake.

You don't tell us what breed they are, Leah.

Leghorn-type pullets eat about 1/4 pound of feed each day. Nine would go thru about 2 1/2 pounds daily or about 70 pounds each month.

Heavier birds will eat more - probably, start with an expectation of 1/3 pound each day.

edited to say, free-choice is best.

I just did the math--my small to large breed flock of 10 eat about 60 pounds a month-------1 1/2 pounds a week each. They also eat table and garden scraps. I used to get by on just under 50 pounds a month--but most are older now/bigger and the oldest 18 months. One seems fat, the rest filled out to a slim one. I guess this winter may bring this up more, as it did last winter. The 1 1/4 pound a week rule I have heard often just is not enough for my brats. My dogs, cats, chickens self feed with food allways available, and seldom have i had a fat animal.

I feed my girls free choice. They eat when they are hungry. Chickens don't overeat. They regulate themselves very efficiently. And I don't have to even think about how much or when to feed.
Works for me and them.
