How much flax seed???

How much flax seed should I feed my chickens. I have a small bag about half full. Should they only get a little bit? And what is it good for, anyways?

It has around 20% protein if I remember correctly. Don't give more than 4% of the feed, I read on one website awhile ago.

If you give too much it will make the eggs taste strange. It is good for them. Make sure you give grit or they can get grit from the soil.

It is supposed to increase the omega 3 fatty acids in the eggs for our health. I used to feed them but they don't find them as palatable as other things so I stopped buying them.
