OK, so DH and I are working on fattening up these egg laying breed roos, and I cant find anything on Google about how many lbs of feed goes into each pound of gain on a bird??? We have 108 mouths to feed and are going thru 50 lbs of starter in a week...so Saturday's are now the feed store run day... I did the math and in 7 days, 108 mouths and 50 lbs that is 3.25 lbs per bird per week in feed, but they really dont seem to be getting very big. To me they look great, but DH is used to cows...and he says that the birds should be 3 times as efficient as cows so something is wrong with our birds...who are 22 days old today. I havent weighed anyone yet, but the bigger ones I am guessing at 1lb...
So, how many pounds of feed for one lb of gain?
