How much for eggs?

In michigan most people sell various colors of chicken eggs for 3 dollars and that’s the higher end! You can get white eggs in the store for 75 cents a dozen on sale! I sell my chicken eggs(various colors)for 3$ and my khaki and pekin duck eggs for 5$. It all matters where you live

I am west of Chicago.

$2-$4 seems to be the going rate in my area. I've seen some filthy eggs posted on Craigslist.I go based on how much my chicken feed costs. I have a small flock with 8 hens but easily get 3 1/2 dozen or more a week. If I sell just a dozen or 2 a week that pretty much pays a good portion of their feed and my family getsthe rest to enjoy. I hand date each egg with a pencil, and people like that.

Marking with a pencil is a good idea. I was thinking about that, but was thinking about a pen or marker, but got worried that the ink might bleed or go into the egg, so I scrapped that idea.

Hens are lying 4 dozen a week. Demand has me selling at $1 a dozen and I'm still giving some away for free (to keep inventory rotated and fresh).

I was giving my eggs away to my neighbors. At first they were grateful, except the Mormon neighbors, they just seemed frightened of me. LOL I'd walk door to door handing them out each week, but then people started acting like I was putting them out "oh no, not more eggs, I guess I'll take them." Well, you know what? Screw 'em. No more eggs for free, except for a few people, so they don't complain about my cats on their porch.

I only just started getting a surplus of eggs. I too have EEs so my carton has browns, a brownish pink, light blue, olive green and white. I am getting $4/dozen and have high demand. The price will go up to $5/dozen next year because of this demand. I don't want to do it yet because I don't want to drive away the customers I just made.
I would think double that for duck eggs. More if you can sell to bakers as I understand they make the baked goods richer.

Hi All! I was not sure which forum to post this in and I'm sure there is already a post on this, but my searches did not bring it up. I am wondering what you all charge for eggs? I have Easter Eggers eggs, which every one loves the color, various shades of brown egges, Pekin duck eggs and Cayuga duck eggs (her first one was black, now they are greyish). I get about 8-10 eggs/day, so I'm not a big time egg seller, but I sell what we do not eat. Last year I sold them for $4/doz, but after looking around, I'm thinking that I am under priced. I am finding duck eggs for over $10/doz, chicken eggs for $5/doz. What do you charge?

I charge 2.50 a dozen for medium-large eggs.. brown and white. Same for my Easter eggers. If I get small eggs I sell at 1.50 a dozen. My bantam eggs I sell for 1.00 a dozen and duck eggs in my area are 12.50 a dozen. I am in New York

Very simply what the market will bear....Its easier to come down the price ladder than going up.

You need to know, or seek out, your market....and what price point it will bear.
Sales can be tricky, got to know who to converse with....and who to leave alone.
Selling to the public can get complicated quickly, depending on the local laws.

I have 3-4 regular customers, that understand the ebb and flow of egg production.
1 sells to her co-workers when I have a surplus.
It pays for feed and some other supplies...which was my goal.

I sell my eggs for $5 a dozen. They are brown and blue eggs. Whenever I post them for sale, they are typically gone that day. I live in the Atlanta area. Before my chickens were laying, I’d pay anywhere from $5-$8 a dozen for free range, organic eggs. I figure they are getting a bargain.

Wow $4/doz i wanna live near you. I try to sell mine $2/doz and people throw a fit and say well I can get eggs for a buck at the store. Lol oh grumps. I'd say your right in the ballpark. You may get yourself a little extra business if you're are a bit cheaper than everywhere else.

My Barred Rock pullets lay Small, Medium and Large. A carton averages Medium size weight. $2.50. Two dozen for $4.00.
Going price in my town for backyard chicken eggs is $3.00 Two for $5.00. GC

I only have eight chickens, but they lay 6 to 8 eggs a day, so usually I have two or three dozen extra week that I can’t use. I sell my eggs for $6 dollars a dozen or two dozen for $10. I use that money to buy their feed and that way it doesn’t cost me anything to feed them.I am taking advantage of the extra eggs right now, because mine are pets and I figure later on they won’t be laying so many eggs, so at least right now I can feed them for free.

I sell at $3 a doz, just enough to pay for my feed. I am sure I could get more. Remember, do not compare to grocery store, mine are free range and organic. I have a waiting list , do not deliver, if I can help it. Too of my regulars live on the road, so easy delivery. One of my regulars take 3 dox each week to a friend. I am sure you could get more, if you wanted.
