How much grit do I give chicks?

I bought chick grit and this is my first time raising chicks do I put the grit in their food or just in the brooder on the bedding and how much should I give to them

I just take a handful or so and scatter it on the floor of the brooder, same with food
I do have a food and water container that stays full, but they LOVE to scratch for food too

Also, they don't need it un til several weeks old, thE chicken starter is all they need at first and it's very easy to digest

I am also going to feeding them bread and vegetables

I put grit in a small bowl. They take what they need. If you are feeding them veggies and bread you need the grit available for them
