how much handling?

you know Sarah, I was a bit worried about the poo last night myself but the whole time she was on my chest she never did poo. I mentioned that to my DH and then told him ..."do you know there is such a thing as chicken diapers?" His reaction was...

too funny.

isnt anyone worried about all the poop?

Either I'm just lucky, or something but I've never been pooped on yet. The chickens will sit with me for sometimes a quite long time, and when they get 'wiggly' I set them down and they do their 'business' and usually want back on my lap again! Yay! I got Potty Trained Chickens!

Ozark isnt it lovely to have one on your chest while watching telly!!They are lovely and warm and fuzzy!!
No im not worried about chicken poop, i always wear machine washable clothes anyway.
I was lucky and still are as when I cuddle any I never get pooped on. Ill bet i will tommorrow just because I said it!!
So Jsto go on, dont be afraid to hold them, you wont hurt them if you are gentle. Just cup your hand over their back so their wings are tucked in and coo to them.
Have lots of fun learning about them and never be afraid to ask any questions, we love helping!!

so last night, i layed newspaper down on my bathroom floor, put water and food down and had a blast with my girls! they got to spread their wings and give them a try. They like to fly AT eachother. SO fun to watch. they were weary at first about me, but they came closer and closer than started to peck at my pants....i know they can't hurt me, yet, but i was a little hestitant to hold my hand out. but heck, im scared of every animal/creature but dogs and cats! haha i had a blast. i have to learn how to get pictures on here, everytime i try, i cant because the pictures are too big? any one with advice?
thanks,
SarahF

sarah if you go to photobucket.com and start there. They will make your photos smaller automatically and then just follow the instructions, on BYC, for downloading pictures. It really is easy once you start there. Hope that helps you? And good for you. I was a little leary of pecks myself, but they don't hurt at that age at all. You have got to let them hop into your hand then neither you nor your chicks will be afraid.
Yes, Bantymum, nothing like it.

Awwwww...don't you just love chickens?! Yes, contrary to what many believe, chickens love to love and be loved. Mine are 6 weeks old and I handled them alot and now when I go out to the chicken house to fill feeders and such they come running in from the outside run to see what I am doing. If I kneel down they'll fight over who gets to sit on my shoulders first! Its so funny too because they each have their own unique personalities and lil' quirks that they do!

Your babies are just too cute!
