How much height over the roost?

    We are finally putting together the coop- but we need to figure out the placement for the roost. How much headroom do they need over the roost? 18"? We have a BR, RIR, EE and a Red Star. I have no idea how tall they will be when full grown.

    Hi from Ga. How big is your coop? If your worried about head room over your roost your coop might be on the small size for LF. My 5 pens have 6' head room so its not an issue.

    I like to give them plenty of head room so I put mine where there will be at least 21 inches from roost to top of pen.
