Ok, so I am incubating eggs and planning on keeping 4-6 hens. I'm putting up a fence in the yard dedicating about 250 square feet for the hens to free-range on. As far as a home goes, how much inside space do the hens need for nesting/hanging out/safety? Also, should whatever space that they're in be raised off of the ground or does that matter? Thanks!

Coop space, 4 sq. ft. per chicken, run space, 10 sq. ft. per chicken. Having an elevated coop is good, but as long as you make it predator proof, it's up to you.
