Havaharts coon size run $40 to $60 around here. Money well spent if you have birds. I have caught 28 coons 5 possums, 2 fox and my own cat 10 times. In 2 years. Starting to get a bit ragged but works. Maybe get a new one next year. May look at professional trapper suppies next time to get a heavier duty one. Coons ARE hard on them!

I recommend the ol' ounce of prevention. I'd put 1/2" hardware cloth around the lower 2 feet of your run and make sure to bury galvenized fencing about 2' or put hardware cloth apron around the run.

As someone already said, there will always be another coon...

We spent about 50 dollars and got ours at Fleet Farm. Put the food exactly in the middle behind the trap. Ours figured out that they could reach in and eat the cat food! A carefully placed gate propped over the top helped with the tripping and the reaching. It works!

It cost me $60 just make sure to kill it and NOT RELEASE IT.And have a plan to kill it before you actually set the trap.

All the traps that are NOT a Havahart are thin enough a large coon WILL chew through it...I know. Spend the money and get a Havahart. I spent $80 on the one I have which is a Model 1081 large trap. It's 15"x15"x42" and I've needed every bit of that space. Sometimes caught 2 in one trap.

I've used this Havahart for 3 years and caught over 100 varmints...shooting them in the trap. BIG BIG fines if you relocate anything!!! The cheap trap lasted exactly 3 kills. I took it back and said, "this trap is crap. I want my money back." And they did.

Man y'all are good, I've had that trap for 2 years and all I've caught is a stray cat that was none too pleased. Our coons are too smart. My wife bought a bow and arrow, but the only time we tried it, we missed horrible and the darn thing left the yard chuckling.

there is always more than 1 coon, better wire ,, i learned the hard way myself, electric wire seems to work as well, them coons seem to be able to get into something they shouldn't fit thru, smart to, a good coon is a dead 1, ask around about a coon club, they sometimes have traps they will loan ya and then will come get the coons, they use them to reach there pups, good luck
