ok I am thinning out my flock of chickens and was woundering what a good price for almost one yr old sultan roos should go for and a barred rock roo. leghorn roo. any sugestions would help

Roosters usually go anywhere from free to $10 each, unless they're of a good value someone wants. For example, a purebred Ameraucana rooster someone may need for egg color or adding to their breeding program. Otherwise if it is something commonly found or not of common need in your area, $0-10 is the norm price.

thank you illia i alway look forword to hearing your advice. i posted them on the craigslist in my area. i did 2$ for the liltle guy and 15 for the sultans and 10 for the rest what do you think. i figured ask a little high and i could get come down a little.

Like Illia said, it all depends on the demand in your area and the quality of your birds. Your birds will be worth more if they are from a breeder who breeds with the breed standard in mind. Hatchery stock is typically not worth as much. People can be a bit crazy about it though. Up here, I've seen Sex Link Roosters advertised for $20 and Marans for $55. Average is $8-$10 though with some breeds going for $15.

i dont know where they came from i got all my chicken free froma bunch of school teachers. but i do know the payed pretty good for them. dont know anybody around here that has sultans tho. do you think im asking to much on the sultans??

For me, personally, $15 isn't too much but that has more to do with where I live and the fact that I do try to get birds that are relatively close to the breed standard. You might want to contact your local 4-H office and see if any 4-Hers are looking for some nice birds.

I guess I'm cheap... I am rehoming some of my cockerels for $5 and pullets for $10... Seems weird to me charging someone $25-35 for pullets I see, even here in Silicon Valley.
