How much room for ducks?

in 48 sq. ft. of coop space and a bunch of room in the run?

48 divided by 16 is 3. 3 square feet per bird….I'll say it depends. I feel that is fairly snug. Are they all females?

I have eleven (9 Runners, 1 Buff, 1 mini Cayuga) in about 70 square feet, so that's just over 6 square feet per. That's for the night pen. Here, we get days and days in winter when the ducks don't go out for more than an hour or so during the day. We need the space so they don't get agitated being kept in so long.

Do you have an estimate of how much of a bunch of room the run has?

No really I guess but a lot. It's supposed to be4 sq ft.per standard bird and 2 for calls

It is a little small. 2 square feet is the absolute minimum for inside (only for the night); 5 square feet is optimal. Outside, I go with at least 10 square feet, which would be, for your amount of ducks, 160 square feet. If your run is 10x16 feet or bigger, they will be fine.

My ducks right now (24 ducks) have almost 8 square feet of space inside, for ONLY the night. During the day, they have almost unlimited space - they use less than 3 acres of the available area.

It will actually be: 4 Calls, 2 Buffs, 3 Silver Appleyards, 3 Magpies. The buffs will be female unless their alone with the calls then it will be one male 2 female. the calls will be 1 male 3 female. and the Magpies and SA's will be 2 females and 1 male. So it will only be 12 instead of 16.
