How much roost space?

We just built this chicken tractor with the intentions to raise meat chickens. We’ve since decided to just get 4-5 laying hens instead. This tractor is 8X8 but was curious how big of a shelter I needed to build for the chickens to get in out of the weather, away from predators, and have a nesting and roosting spot?

You'd need roughly 5' of roost for 5 birds. If you partially enclose and roof of the back portion to provide all around weather protection and stick the roost and nest boxes back there, that should do just fine.
