How much shade...and with what?

I did scatter some morning glory seeds on the west end...hoping they will vine up and provide some shade. Thanks for the ideas.

I think the vine idea is terrific. In some backyard coops I saw small trees in the coops, allowing shade & roosts as well as preditor protection. The woody vines helped the coop blend into the yard landscape. I will pay more attention as to what kind of plantings they were when I go on the tour again this May.
