We just got some 10 day old Australopes (first time chick parents!) and they have mostly just been sleeping since we got home. Is that normal? Do chicks just sleep most of the time or should I expect them to be up and about more in the next few days as they get used to their new home?

newly hatched chicks sleep a LOT - like if they're not eating or pooping they are sleeping - as they get older and develop their muscles they will start moving about like crazy

Well, it's been 2 days and no more posts...I hope they're OK.

At 10 days they should be fairly active.....eating and drinking at least.
Where did you get them and how are you housing/heating/feeding them?

Welcome to BYC.

I just got chicks and mine are sleeping a lot too. Since chicks grow really fast it’s important that they sleep a lot. I wouldn’t be too worried as long as they eat and drink properly
