I’ve got about 25 laying hens that are free ranging everyday. I give them Rolling Acres layer feed but I’m wondering how much each hen should get? With all my other chickens I’m going through a lot of feed so I’m trying to be as efficient as possible. Let me know, thanks!

I finally found a feeder where they can't spill or waste the feed. I leave it filled all the time and give them 24 hour access to it. I go through so much less feed now that it's not being wasted.

It wasn't cheap so you could probably build one for allot less money. Someone here just recently shared his plans for a no waste feeder using a small plastic barrel and a few pieces of pvc pipe.

In the "feeding & watering" forum, search how much to feed. Fermented Feeding thread is very interesting, points out the benefits. I used to switch from Chick Starter to Layer according to what the bag said until I read about feeding a general feed to all, supplementing layers with Oyster Shells. Sure saves having to have different stage feed.

Yes, free feed 24/7 , they are laying every second day the last thing they need is a diet ,

My hanging feeders are sectioned so they can’t dig and throw it out !!

Good luck ,feed is not that expensive

Feed IS expensive when you have 80 chickens.
