Hello I'm coming out of NC how much should I sell a dozen eggs for 1$-2$ dollars at local store.
Are these eating eggs? Hatching eggs?
If eating eggs ... What size? What color? Fertile? Open range?
I personally am willing to pay double what the store sells month+ old eggs from a big factory farm, to get local FRESH healthy eggs!
ETA: A place I like to get eggs from has various sized eggs ... $3 Med, $4 Lg, $5, XL ...

What??? How do they figure that?x2. Backyard farm eggs taste way better. Fresher...depends. I stopped by a farm in Ohio once, a couple miles down a dirt road, to talk to the proprietors. They had 40 hens free ranging, but only found about 6 eggs a day. They had 12 DOZEN for sale. I don't think the oldest of those were all that fresh.
We are filling 8+ dozen a day and selling within 48 hours. I'd consider those fresh.
I just had my first customer refusal of fertile eggs on the grounds of cruelty to animals.
That' a good point I hadn't thought about carton cost. Maybe I'll do a discount for "bring your own carton"....lol My sister has labels for hers too. I'll have to get creative and put my pc to work...lolI get about 10 dozen/ week, and sell out every week at $3/dozen. To be fair, I have $1/carton in cost, but it keeps demand high. I have several breeds of chickens, with several different colors of eggs. I buy clear cartons, mix the colors, then add a custom label to the top. I got my labels from Kathy Moreno (AdozenGirls on BYC), and absolutely believe that the personal touch helps sell the eggs
Most people around here will discount 25-50 cents for returned cartons, but I just stick at $3. If they return them, then I start recouping some of my carton costThat' a good point I hadn't thought about carton cost.
