I have someone interested in purchasing one or two of my goats but goats aren't my forte' so I would like some input. I have a boer doe mix who is 7-8 years old. I'm not sure what percentage of boer she is but I am assuming more than %50. All of her babies have the solid white and the brown markings. She is a big girl as well like a boer should be. I also have her son whose father looked exactly like him. He is about 4 months and is growing quickly. The man who wants to purchase them would be using the baby buck as meat and possibly the mother as well. I'm going to try to find a home for the mother rather than meat if we sell her baby because I do have an attachment to her but she has had a good long life so she maybe used for meat... I looked online and it said goat meat sells for $2.99 lb but I don't know how that would transfer to a live animal. I have been browsing Craigslist and most boer/ boer mixed bucks go for $100- 160. As for does they usually go for $190- 280. I have sold a buck (babies father) for $100 and someone told me that it was really low price for him. I had gotten an offer on this doe for $210 before but turned it down because at the time we didn't want to sell her. I was guessing selling the buck for $110 and the doe for $220 or both for $300. Thoughts?
