The run is about as big as I can go without taking over my whole yard. They will be kept to the run when no one is there to watch them.Large Fowl? Bantams? Confined to the run or given free-range time? I would also say that four standard birds would be the maximum for that space. You could potentially house more bantams there. We have three coops that open into one run that's approximately 300 sq. ft. -have 7 standard hens and 2 bantams that share the common space. I'd recommend constructing the run as large as possible. -don't want to have to deal with feather picking and squabbles. If, however, you do plan on letting them roam about a lawn/pasture area for part of the day, you may get by with a smaller run.
