How much to sell chicks for?

The best course is to be honest and sell as straight run. Since it will be hard to tell the breeds in that assortment that may affect how well they sell.

In my area I have a great feed store that I can order any breed with most being just $4 for sexed pullets with a "we take back accidental roosters" guarantee.

Look at craigslist for your area and see what others are asking. It's what I would do.
there usually 5 bucks a pop for purebreds

I don't think you'd get $6 a piece but since Tractor Suply can't get their stuff working, it could happen depending on what you have and what people want.

When they hatch there are a lot of great people on here that MIGHT be able to tell the rarer breeds really early on.

Those rarer (if any hatch) could potentially go for more but any that are a question mark I would sell at the $5 that is common.

Now if you are set up to care for them for ten weeks or so pullets could go for more still with better breed accuracy as they feather out. The rub there is males are hard to sell or even give away.

I’m an hour outside the twin cities and I just sold all my chicks from a late February hatch. And that was at $2 a chick. Straight run. Though the last ones that sold I’m pretty sure I know what they were.

I see listings on Craigslist anywhere from $8 down to $2. $8 being show quality or rare breeds and $2 being common or mix breeds.
