Did you try pushing food through it before water? If so, what type of food did you use?

Yes. I mushed up pellet layer feed and made it watery. It works with a syringe.

I am betting it's the food. I sometimes have a hard time pushing Kaytee formula (powdered) through a lamb tube.

Though that doesn't explain the water issue.

Try flushing it out with really hot water a few times. See if anything clears.

When I use pellets or crumbles I add hot water to them, then I use a stick blender. That is the only way I have been able to get it to flow through a tube.

So I'll just keep syringe feeding the food? Use the tube for water? Maybe the river has food inside it. I'll push some through a few times to clean it out.

I barely get the water through. The food is literal water food. I use got water and let it sit 10 minutes, it is all puffed and no liquors. Then I add enough water so it's like a fluid. The syringe likes it. Not so much the tube.

Syringing food is dangerous because they are more likely to aspirate the food. Do you have a stick blender or food processor?
