how much water

There is alot of factors like where you live because the air might be dryer... and also what kind of bator you are using... If you get a cheap hygrometer it will tell you if the humidity in your bator is correct... It also depends on what you are trying to incubate. Chickens need less humidity then ducks.... Plus you need to know that surface area is what makes more humidity so a saucer filled with water would create more humidity then a cup holding more water for the simple fact that there is more surface water being exposed to the air in a saucer...

can i just get a ball park of around how much water i need to put in a styraphone incubator for chicken eggs i just need a ball park....

If it has a water well at the bottom I would just add it there and only a ounce or so. Maybe the size of a saucer... If you can see the condisation or the air inside the bator looks thick then it is to much humidity. Do you plan to get a hygrometer? Some people just add a little bit of water and then weigh the egg and also candle to see if the airsac is the right size and then up or lower the water if needed... I heard one person even say they don't add water at all and then just make the humidity 75% at hatch...

I am going into day 18 and my still air LG has been hanging around 30-35% with water added in the wells and I have been content with that. I bought sponges to add to get it up for lockdown. I am figuring that once I take the second air plug out, it will go down more. How many square inches of sponge do you normally put in to get to the 75%?

Hi i am new here i have a styrofoam incubator mine came with a clear plastic tray at bottom and then your wire floor on top of the plastic tray. Then you can put egg turner on the wire. the center tray is were you put the water in till close to hatch then you use both center trays with water
