How much would this cost new? I got a used 12- hole galvanized nest box from a friend that use to raise chickens. He gave it to me! After a couple of cans of spray paint it should look good. Just curious on how much he saved me.

Well in the 2010 Murray Mcmurray a 10 hole one runs 240.50 +S&H so I would go as good as saying over 300 bucks congrats on the great saveings I wish I had friends like that........

After looking at several hatchery and supply catalogs, anywhere between 200-600 dollars.I don't know why anyone would buy something like this when, with minimum carpentry skills, you can build one using mostly scrap and salvaged materials.

Just look how much a small coup for 5-6 hens would cost you to buy.Or those feeders or waterers or any other manufactured accessories. It's crazy!!I get dizzy looking at those catalogs.

Thanks, I found a couple of 10-holes on the web but couldn't find any 12's. I'm tickled with it. So far I have gathered all my lumber and building materials for free, my coop is at $00.00 so far. Should be starting construction in about a week. I'm hoping to not have a dime in my coop and run. I appreciate the help, I don't have any magazines to look at.

I agree, I was going to use some milk crates for my nest boxes. But free is free!
