How much would you pay for this coop?

thank you for all your responses. My hubby was thinking about making a few to sell. The design has worked out so perfectly for us! We added a gutter and rain barrel off the back and we water the garden with it - works out great. It is an outhouse in the background I picked it up off craigslist and we use it to store feed and other chicken "stuff" so everything is convenient.

I would guess between 1200-1500, for labor and materials. really nice!

I would say at least $1,000-1,500 around here if it was built on site.

how much did it cost to build and how many man hours?

to figure your retail price:
materials cost X 2 (ideally, he would find a wholesale supplier)
+
(give yourself an hourly wage that is appropriate for the work done - remember you're not slave labor!) X hours
+
transport costs (including to pick up materials and get to site)


this is a pretty standard formula for figuring out what you should charge starting out (sorry if you knew this already!). if that total is anywhere close to what people here have said, then you should give it a go. if not, try it anyway. doesn't hurt to put an ad up and see if there's nibbles.
