How my chickens are staying cool today **Photos**

Brilliant! You have the happiest girls in town! I did this very thing last weekend working on an outdoor building project -- minus the tray of ice. I set up the striped umbrella (because pretty is important) and dragged out the fan and dug holes for deck footers like a civilized laborer.

And speaking of towns, my dearest friend ever lives in Philomath. We can't pronounce it so we just call it "Dennis." I don;t remember why.

Cool Cool Chickies you got,
MissJenny

I grew up in Helena up near Fremont. Lol no one except people in Oregon..and not even some of them...can pronounce Philomath.

My chickens have lots of shade and water, and I go and hose down their area as well as all their little footies to keep them cool. Fans would be a nice idea. We'll have to see about that tomorrow. Nice set up you have there with the ice and all!!!

Ice tub! Great idea! We hit 107 here outside of Seattle today, and I've been misting the girls all day long (fortunately, the coop is in constant shade). I'll put out a roller-paint tray of ice tomorrow (for three hens).

Wonderful Idea!!! My Ladies are under the redwoods but the coop get hot So I dug out a old fan after veiwing ur post and now they are happy inside the coop with the fan blowing..Thanks for posting and sharing

Great idea. We have had a pretty mild summer so far but I'll keep that ice bath idea in mind.

August is usually hot so I'm sure I will need to do something.

I seriously do not think it will over here in Philomath. We are only at 70 right now with a very strong ocean breeze. We are all lovin' life here today
