So a few minutes ago I had to take the turner out of the incubator and set the eggs on the wire bottom since it is day 13 for my Button quail eggs..... I was so nervous, that my hands were actually shaking at some point!!! I was so afraid that I would accidentally drop one, but I didn't. I noticed that some of them felt a lot lighter than the others, so I am assuming those won't hatch? There were only 2 or 3 like that out of the 16 eggs. I also added a third wet sponge to hopefully boost the humidity for the last three days..... so now the real nail biting begins...

Eggs should get lighter when they are ready to hatch. The embryo is using all the nutrients in the egg so it goes inside the body. In fact, everything gets sucked inside the baby except the wastes (will be a jelly substance inside the shell).

Now is the nail biting time indeed! I hope you have a great hatch!!

Thanks so much! Keeping my fingers crossed and thinking happy thoughts

The third sponge did help to bring up the humidity as well, so that's good!

This is soooo exciting.... today is day 15!!! I have the brooder set up and I am just in the process of adjusting the temperature
