I'm getting Coturnix quails next year and keeping them indoors in a custom built coop. How noisey are these birds? I know that the hens are pretty silent but i hear the roosters are noisy as can be. Basically im asking if a rooster would keep me up all night? Any and all advice is greatly appreciated

ok, so wat can i do to minimize the crowing??? id like to have a rooster but worst case scenario ill get a couple of hens to save my ears

Keep hens only and you won't have the crowing.

Honestly they aren't much nosier than most birds but don't expect them to be rabbit quiet.

I don't find the smell that bad at all with 20. What I do find bad are all the flies. Tons of them. Here in TX.

I will say right now with multiple males even in the dark they will crow everyday all day! I use to raise a few hundred every summer about 2 years ago. Kept every color under the sun but the Blues and Silvers.....and the breeding pen pans can get smelly on a hot july day especially when you cant be cleaning them every half hour. Really fun bird to have...but I'm partial to Bobwhites.

As in Lymestone? or Lime the fruit??? Also im only planning on having one rooster if any at all, and 2 or 3 hens for him, would that shut him up having all those ladies to himself?
