I'm thinking along the lines of Cx or Freedom Rangers- but was curious how noisy they get around the 10/11wk time? Do the boys start crowing that early with their faster development, or...? I'm used to layers so count me clueless on meaties

Thanks for any input!!

LOL Right, I get that, but I was wondering, would I be looking at a rush because they all start crowing around that time, or are they still quiet in that respect?

They are very quiet. They don't make it to maturity to develope any crowing or egg songs, so the most I've heard from them is mild crooning or clucking.

Our meaties are different breeds than what you asked about, but just fyi: The dark cornish (not cornish x) hatchery birds we have began crowing when they were about 12 weeks old. They like to crow and are loud.

Our red broilers began about 11 or 12 weeks, but they have a softer crow and are less enthusiastic crowers. I don't really notice them much at all.

The cornish X should be in the freezer by 7-8 weeks old. Don't know about the freedom rangers- don't know anyone personally that has ever raised them.

We occasionally get a cornish x rooster that starts crowing right around processing time but it is still the small short crows that they start with. Other than that, they are very quiet birds.
