How nutritious is chicken poop for my dog?

Hi, My hens free range in the backyard during the day and my great pyrenees/anatolian shepherd mix follows them around and, well, eats their poop. As a plus, he also cleans out their coop...

Is this likely to have any adverse effect on him? It's something he's only started doing now that he's more calm around the hens.

So a couple things about this. It can and will make him ill if it’s a large amount. A friends dog just spent some time on meds for it. I can ask exactly what the diagnosis was.

I do have an idea I was thinking about posting about this from another friend. She was thinking you can give cayenne pepper to the chickens. Would it go though and make the poo hot? Thereby possibly ridding the issue and if that worked would it cause adverse problems for the chickens to be on peppper for extended period of time. Inquiring minds want to know.

I used to raise Cockers. One female used to clean up the exercise pen when we were at dog shows. I didn't realize that till someone said "Your dog is going to eat dog poo." Before I could get over there, the woman continued with "Too late!"

One day I was doing "tooth scraping," on the dogs - got to one male and UGH, noticed he had brown gunk stuck around his teeth. Like a dummy I moved in closer to smell it.
:barnie:sick - yep dog poo but, he only ate his own.
